You are the captain of your life, and neither your childhood home, your education, nor anything else in the past is responsible for your success. This also means that you do not need to ask for permission to live your dreams. All successful people are doers, not thinkers. To become self-employed, for example, you need a great business idea, a willingness to work on your dream consistently, and a business license. That’s about it. When I started out, I didn’t ask anyone whether it would make sense to hold public seminars or to record my anti-energy-vampire podcast. The moment you ask others, you are boycotting your project yourself.
Why? Well, take my public seminars as an example. If I’d asked people for advice, many of them would likely have said, “Tobi, there are so many seminars available, and your corporate seminars are going well.” At that point, my thoughts would already have been moving in the wrong direction. Without their advice, however, I was totally free—and almost exploded inwardly with enthusiasm as I thought about how many lives could be changed. A similar thing happened with the podcast. Yes, I knew there were many already; but I bought the equipment and started anyway, without asking anyone. What happened? We immediately took first place in the business category! The golden rule is: don’t talk and discuss at length, but simply do. Our seminars and products eventually ended up grossing millions of dollars. Whose place was it to give permission for that? The universe, parents, friends? Never make your success dependent on others; in that case, you can only lose. If I’d listened to the stories that were fired at me from all sides, I’d still be watching life from the bench.
To give you the kick you need each day, I want to share my personal “declaration.” Read over these lines as many times as you need to program your subconscious mind for success. For best results, do it standing, with a loud voice and your hand on your heart:
