This story starts in a tender place—Charlie’s desire for a child. The woman who longs to be a mom was heavy on my heart as I wrote this. I hope I did her story justice, as it is an unanswered ache for so many.
When I started writing this book, I had no idea how many details would go into understanding the foster care process and system.
