Chapter SIX

Dr. Flannery reviewed the file for his next patient.

And as he read the notes and history, he couldn’t help the memories that plunged into his thoughts. Memories of the past twelve years were filled with so many significant events. His recovery had been remarkable, all in one night the nightmares had dissipated, replaced by an overwhelming desire to help those who suffered as he once did. He struggled through school, but as if the will of God had played a part, he was accepted to medical school, where he excelled in the workings of the mind. Two years’ time was spent specializing in psychiatry, and now this employment, his first real job since the adventure, began.

He was only employed for a month when the file came across his desk. Michael Flannery, Dr. Flannery, always understood there was a purpose behind all his struggles, as if he had a large part in a great play. And today he sensed fruition.

After a long sigh, he used a moment to clear his thoughts and summoned the strength to find the courage to change the things he could. And when the orderlies escorted Bishop to his office, he had found the strength he’d always sought.
