Sweet Ginger Rub

Use every last bit of this on 1½ to 2 pounds of steak. Serve extra soy sauce on the side.

PREP: 2 minutes

MAKES: about 5 tablespoons

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon Chinese five-spice powder

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground ginger

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon ground red pepper (cayenne)

½ teaspoon Asian sesame oil

In cup, stir all ingredients together. Rub full amount all over steak before grilling. If not using right away, store rub in tightly sealed container in a cool, dry place up to 6 months.
