Self-inking stamps are the most popular and the easiest to use. Two things important to keep in mind:

When making an impression, it must be made so that it is neat and clear and will be accepted by the recipient;

The stamp must not obscure the notary’s signature or any of the text on the document.

Some notaries carry more than one stamp which alleviates the problem of a stamp suddenly running out of ink or, more importantly, if you run into a document with so little space that you cannot use a stamp. That might be the time to use an acknowledgment or a jurat. Place on line through the editing notary certificate, initial near the line, and write the words “see attached”. Then you may complete, sign and stamp the certificate and make sure it is stapled to the document.
