I couldn’t have done it without you.
There is no way I could have created this book without the help of all of the testers. Their hard work, tips and tricks, and helpful feedback made all of this possible. Thanks, ladies! You are VERY appreciated!
Extra special thanks to Liz Wyman, who tested more than forty burgers! What a gal!

Favorite Burgers: “I think I might have to say the Sunday Afternoon Grillers because even out of the freezer, they stayed so moist, but for a real comfort food burger, I’d have to say the Savory Noodle Kugel Burger.”

Favorite Burger-Making Tip: “Make them small, and not too thin, or they will fall apart, even when making the bean burgers. And fry until crisp… they stay together much better.”
LISA COULSON • Brooklyn, New york • pandawithcookie.etsy.com
Favorite Burgers: “I think the Seitanic Stuffers and the Earth Burgers. There are so many that have been good, but I have made both of these more than once.”
AMANDA SOMERVILLE • bartlett, illinois • theppk.com
Favorite Burger-Making Tip: “Err on the small side rather than huge burgers to help them cook all the way through.” Favorite Burger: Cinco de Mayo Burgers
MARY WORRELL • Norfolk, Virginia • veganhamptonroads.com
Favorite Burger-Making Tip: “I love to put the uncooked (or cooked, in some cases) patties on squares of waxed paper and stack them in the freezer. Once they’re firm I put them in plastic bags or vacuum pack them for the freezer. Then you can have homemade burgers all the time without the mess!”
JENNIFER SHRIER • Huntington Beach, California
Favorite Burger: “Ortega Burger. These patties are filling, tasty, healthy, easy, and no fuss. These are perfect for a non-vegan, like me, who appreciates the occasional vegan meal. It makes it feasible to add a vegan meal to my weekly menu because I can use everyday ‘normal’ ingredients I am familiar with without having to go to the store to pick up some random vegan ingredient that I will only use once.”

Favorite Burger: “Loved Lizzy’s Lentil Daal Burger especially. Love the spicier ones the best!”
AMANDA DICKIE • Halifax, Canada • notjustgreens.blogspot.com
Favorite Burger: “Smoky Tempeh Seitanic Stuffersl They are amazing. Seriously, I could live off of these suckers for weeks.”
JAMIE COBLE • Knoxville, Tennessee
Favorite Burger-Making Tip: “My method for making evenly sized burgers (it helps them cook evenly and be ‘burger’ shaped) is to use my expandable measuring cups to measure each burger, usually 1/4 to 1/3 cup, and then squeeze it right out! They are perfectly round and require just a bit of patting to smoosh them down some.”
Favorite Burger: “The Deli-Style No-Tuna Melt. It’s quick, easy, and delicious! Plus, I can change it up easily by adding different spices, condiments, and veggies.”
MICHELLE GRAVES • Norristown, Pennsylvania
Favorite Burger-Making Tip: “If there was something you didn’t like the first time around, it’s not necessarily a lost cause. Don’t be afraid to change up the ingredients to your liking, but do keep an eye on texture so they don’t end up crumbly or dry. In the end, no one knows your tastes better than you.”
Favorite Burgers: “Baked Popeye Burgers when I am watching what I eat and grilled Bacon Cheeseburgers when I am throwing caution to the wind. My husband is a really big fan of the Bacon and Egg Breakfast Burgers; in fact, he hardly ever stops hounding me to make them…”
JULIE FARSON • Phoenix, Arizona • kindkitchen.wordpress.com
Favorite Burger: “My favorite burger was the Bacon Cheeseburger!! Quick and easy to make, but filling and tasty.”
KARYN CASPER • Frederick, Maryland • threepotato.blogspot.com
Favorite Burger-Making Tip: “If you knead something long enough, it will become a patty.”
Favorite Burger: “Green Castle Sliders are my fave (so far). I just like sliders because they are small and cute.”
MELISSER EHIOTT • San Francisco, California • theurbanhousewife.com
Favorite Burger: “Jalapeno CornbreadBurgers! My husband and his non-veg brother devoured these so quickly, I feared I wouldn’t get one myself! The Ortega Burgers are excellent, too!”
