Kazuaki Tanahashi
ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Kazuaki Tanahashi, artist, Buddhist scholar, and peace worker, was born in Japan in 1933. He moved to the United States to be a scholar in residence at the San Francisco Zen Center in 1977. Soon he joined a massive movement to reverse the nuclear arms race. While translating Zen master Dogen’s writings, he developed the genre of one-stroke painting, as well as multicolor Zen circles and East Asian calligraphy, exhibiting worldwide. He has served as secretary of Plutonium Free Future, director of the Ten Millennium Future Project, and currently is founding director of A World Without Armies.
