CHAPTER XIII

Everything seemed to happen at the same time, while the first set of Angels showed up. Brad and Eldon arrived to mix things up. When Uriel drove onto the parking lot of the airport, the attention of everyone on the premises immediately shifted from those who were there to his vehicle. Tyndal decided to complicate things to make sure the eyes of everyone would stay on them. The men she was with needed this time to make the changes that were needed to make a clean getaway. She got out of the vehicle, made a show of smoothing out her outfit, and then headed for the office area.

Tyrus wasn’t particularly pleased with the position Tyndal put herself in, but he understood the necessity of her actions. He had to admit, she put on quite a show, as she strutted across the parking lot and into the office area. He doubted if anyone, male or female, missed a movement, albeit for different reasons. He grinned as he noted that she was doing what she had set out to do.

Tyrus and Uriel followed on either side of her and a step behind her. It gave everyone the impression they were her bodyguards, which they basically were. They didn’t want anyone to get too close to her, because they weren’t sure who they could trust. Someone was working closely with Tony Adams in this company. They weren’t interested in what people thought as much as they wanted to get out of what they considered a possible strike zone.

Tony Adams watched Tyndal walk across the parking lot from a vantage point of over one hundred yards away. It was as close as he thought he dared getting without anyone being able to see him. He was so shocked and excited about the changes in her appearance that he could barely breathe. It was obvious she had partaken of the waters of the fountain, the same as the others. This thought angered him, as he considered what a deceitful bitch she was. Were all women this selfish? She could have made his quest a whole lot easier if she would have told him what he wanted to know. What right did she have to look young and beautiful while the rest of the world aged and sickened with the abuses brought on by the encroaching years and abuse of the lifestyles they had lived? In his estimation, she didn’t deserve to live.

Tony Adams wasn’t paying any attention to what was happening on the tarmac, and in that way, he was no different than anyone else. The first plane left with Eldon on it, then the second flew off with Brad. The employees had done their jobs, but their concentration wasn’t on their work. They were focused on Tyndal, as she left the office area and entered the third jet with Tyrus and Uriel in tow. A moment later they left.

To make sure he wouldn’t lose Tyndal and her entourage in the sky, Tony Adams called his friend and ordered, “I want my plane readied, if that hasn’t been done yet. I also want a copy of their flight plans. As soon as all of this has been logged in, I am going to fly after them. They are not getting away from me.”

“Everything will be in order by the time you get here,” Donaldson promised. “What is your ETA?”

“I will be in your office in ten minutes,” Tony Adams spoke. “I am only a few hundred yards away.”

“I better scramble then,” Donaldson stated. “Good thing their destination is a simple one, only one stop, not like the other two planes that left earlier. They were going to be doing two or possibly even three. I got the impression that what they told me was only the tip of the iceberg for them.”

Tony Adams wasn’t sure why, but he still thought they would eventually all meet at the end of the trail, but he did. It made him wonder why so many were being welcomed into the circle of those who knew about this. He didn’t particularly care, so long as he was one.

Donaldson explained Tyndal’s flight plans to Tony Adams, as well as some of the reasons for the stops for each of her other friends’ planes. Not all of the jets had been serviced upon arrival and a couple needed refueling. The stops they were making were based on mostly short hops to top off their tanks. Their final destination remained unsure. He couldn’t say for sure if they were going to be joining Tyndal at the end of the journey or not, although he assumed this would be the case.

As the flight crews on the ground prepared his plane for flight, Tony Adams prepared for the trip. He knew better to think that he would be able to fit into the crowd that would be surrounding Tyndal and her cohorts at the other end. They were not the type to trust anyone, especially as they recognized him at sight. There was no doubt in his mind they would be waiting for him if he suddenly walked onto the property where they were headed. This meant he needed to arm himself heavily, and the moment he was told his jet was ready, he boarded and left.

As it was before, Tony Adams piloted his own plane. He left with a mind filled with questions and his plans updated to fit the circumstances. Or so he hoped. He had to wonder if he could catch up to them, or if not, whether he would at least arrive before they had a chance to disappear. Would he be able to find them if they did? He hadn’t been successful with that yet. Would he need to use his guns again? Even he was surprised with his answer. He hoped so, but only after he got the answer to his question. He wanted to be young again, to feel like the world was a beautiful place to live. He would be healthy and have another chance to make up for all the wrongs that others had done to him in the past. The first thing he would do was get rid of his wife and children. No one would ever find the bodies. It would be such a tragic event. He would be the grieving widower and people would flock to pay their condolences to him.

As Tony Adams thought harder about his plans, he realized they were slightly flawed. He couldn’t return to his old life looking half of his age. He was going to need to change his identity. He smiled as he thought that his eldest son, Desmond looked enough like him that he could switch identity. In a case like that, he wouldn’t need to play the part of a pathetic widower, just a man whose family had been brutally ripped from his life. He would just assume Desmond’s place in the world, and no one would be any the wiser. Tony Adams would be dead, as far as anyone would be concerned. As he thought of the fortune that would go to his son from him, he questioned if he could add to it by assuming Tyndal’s as well. He then decided it would be best not to get too greedy.

When he thought of Tyndal Reynolds, he wished she wasn’t so smart or independent. It would have been nice to cuddle with her, even if it was only as his mistress. Could he pull something like that off? He thoroughly had his doubts. From all reports he had of her, she would never allow him to get close to her, and if he tried to force the issue, she would find a way to neuter him. That wouldn’t suit his idea of having a good time.

“Is he following?” Tyndal asked, meaning Tony Adams. She didn’t know why she was asking. She could feel him getting closer, although his plane didn’t stand a chance of catching up with theirs. She, however, had a sick feeling in her stomach that not only was he planning their deaths, but he was also indulging in some sick fantasy that had something to do with her personally. It made her shudder, and she could feel the bile lie heavily in her stomach. She needed to get him out of her head, but wasn’t certain how.

“I have picked him up on our radar. He wasn’t fooled by the other two flights,” Michael reported. “Either that or he is taking an educated guess that we are headed for the portal area.”

“He was supposed to follow us. The other two flights were actually meant to get Brad and Eldon out of our hair. If I didn’t want to get this over with, I would be tempted to lead Tony Adams on a wild goose chase, just for the fun of it, but I don’t work that way,” Tyndal stated. She had never known anyone as fixated on anything before. Under these circumstances, she was pleased this was the last she would ever see of Tony Adams. She didn’t feel guilty about what they were going to do, she was glad they were going to push him over the edge. He deserved every bit of what he was about to receive and more.
