Spiced Cranberry and Apple Warmer

Cooking time: 5 minutes
Total time: 10 minutes, plus infusing
1 litre (1¾ pints) cranberry juice
250 ml (9 fl oz) fresh apple juice
2 cloves
1 cinnamon stick
Sugar, to taste
1 apple, halved, cored and thinly sliced
Place the cranberry and apple juice, cloves and cinnamon stick in a saucepan and warm gently – do not allow to boil.
Remove the pan from the heat and leave for 5 minutes, to allow the spices to infuse. Stir in sugar, to taste.
Pour boiling water into a large flask to warm for 10–15 minutes. Discard the water and pour the fruit warmer into the flask. Serve in mugs with slices of apple. (The drink can also be served cold.)
