THE ATTACK
People gather to give support to the rescue workers at their staging area on the pier at Clarkson St. and West St. on September 13. The workers are toiling away at the now collapsed World Trade Center.
“The number of casualties will be more than most of us can bear,”
a visibly distraught Mayor Rudolph Giuliani said.
“The best way to deal with this is not only to deal with our own grief,”
the mayor told reporters,
“but also show we’re not cowered by it, that we’re not afraid and go about our business.”
