SHAMPOO, CONDITIONER, AND BODY CLEANSERS
SHAMPOO
Cleaning your hair can be as simple as making a baking soda and water paste, scrubbing it into your hair, and rinsing well. However, if you enjoy the feel of a sudsy, soapy, scented shampoo, try this recipe. You can substitute homemade soap flakes for the castile soap, if desired.
Ingredients
4 oz liquid castile soap
3 Tbsp fresh or dried herbs of your choice, boiled for 30 minutes in 2 cups water and strained
Directions
Pour the soap and herbal water into a jar, cover, and shake until well combined.
This conditioner will add softness and volume to your hair. Avocados, bananas, and egg yolks are also great hair conditioners. Apply conditioner, allow to sit in hair a minimum of 5 minutes (longer for a deeper conditioning), and then rinse well. You may wish to shampoo a second time after using this conditioner.
Ingredients
1 cup olive oil
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp cider vinegar
2 tsp honey
6 to 10 drops essential oil, if desired
Directions
Whisk all ingredients together or blend in a food processor. Store in an airtight container.

This recipe is incredibly simple to make, and by using it you’ll avoid the fluoride, detergents, and chemicals found in many commercial toothpastes. Coconut oil is antibacterial, antifungal, and antimicrobial, and it helps to bind the other ingredients together into more of a paste than a powder. Baking soda is a cleanser, whitener, and mild abrasive. The essential oil makes the paste taste better and freshens your breath.
Ingredients
½ cup coconut oil
¼ cup baking soda
15 to 20 drops peppermint, cinnamon, or myrrh essential oil (or a combination)
Directions
If the coconut oil is hard, warm it slightly to soften. Stir in baking soda and essential oil and store in a small mason jar or other covered dish. To use, wet your toothbrush, dip it in the paste, and brush!
