Nuts Part 2: Peanuts

There is no much difference between peanut and Bambara nut apart from their shapes and colors. The production period, development and treatment are exactly the same.

We ate peanuts freshly harvested just like we did with Bambara nuts. The rest we dried for future eating and kept some as seeds. Cows also loved the vines including the roots and pods.

We again got our first seeds from the remains of what we bought from the local market for cooking. There were many types of peanuts, but we preferred the giant size that was pink in color and three to four times the size of the ordinary small type.

This was also a totally problem free crop. Due to its needing adequate rain, we did not irrigate it.

We grew peanuts for home consumption.
