Cap is up to 5" wide and convex, becoming flattened. Surface is sticky or slimy, with subtle scales, and yellow with a reddish-brown center. Stalk is thick, sometimes enlarging at the base, and colored pale, dull yellow. Gills are pale yellow and partly attached with a notch at the stalk. Spore print is white. Canary Trichs grow in sandy or grassy areas, often under pine trees, throughout North America during the fall or during the winter in California. The mushroom is edible and very good. Also known as Man-on-Horseback and Sandy Trich.
