Cap is pale greenish to yellow, convex, up to 4" wide with pale buff patches of veil remnants. Stalk is whitish with a draping collar ring and a large, cupped basal bulb. Gills are crowded, free, or slightly attached. Spore print is white. It is found in oak or pine woodlands throughout eastern North America during the fall. This is a dangerous mushroom to eat because of its close resemblance to the deadly death cap mushroom, Amanita phalloides.
