Haymaker’s Mushroom, Panaeolus foenisecii or Panaeolina foenisecii

This tiny mushroom has a cap up to 1" wide, bell-shaped to convex, becoming somewhat flattened with age. Surface is smooth or can be rough when dry, reddish-brown to tan, and may show a darker band near the margin. Stalk is thin, fragile, long, and whitish to pale brown. Gills are attached, pale brown, becoming dark brown. Spore print is brown. Haymaker’s Mushrooms grow on lawns and grassy fields throughout most of North America during the spring and summer. They are edible but not recommended and are known to be mildly hallucinogenic.
