Cap is up to 3" wide, convex, flat, becoming funnel-shaped with age, with a somewhat inrolled margin. Surface is dry and pale to dark yellow-brown. Stalk is often bent, fleshy, colored as the cap, and becoming quite dark in contrast to the gills. Gills are attached, orange, descending down the stalk, and forked. Spore print is white. The False Chanterelle grows in coniferous woodlands throughout North America during the fall. Edibility is questionable.
