The Cauliflower Mushroom forms a large mound that is cauliflower-shaped but more ribbonlike or noodlelike in density, covered with fleshy, tough, wavy lobes. It is white to pale yellow-brown and supported by a stout stalk that penetrates deeply into the substrate. Spore print is white. It is mostly found at the base of trees in coniferous forests throughout North America during the fall. It is edible and excellent when cooked to make it tender.
