How to Increase Lust

image

eleventh century

“There are the foods like the ones we spoke about—pepper and octopus, pine-nuts, figs, fresh meat, brains, and eggs yolks. Suitable for potions as well are skink, and “wolf-testicles”—that is, rag-wort—becaue it rouses lust like the skink… Pills for the impotent. Take equal quantities of seed of white onions, rag-wort, the brains of sparrows, flowers of male palm, and white incense. Temper with warm water and shape into pills the size of chick-peas. Give seven in the morning, with wine—and no more, because if you give more, the woman will faint beneath him.”

Constantinus Africanus, Liber de coitu

Forget Viagra. If you really want to impress your partner, talk to your doctor about whether skink potion is right for you.
