File Transfer Protocol (FTP) does exactly what its name indicates. FTP transfers files from computer to computer, computer to the server, or vice-versa, on a LAN or WAN (or the internet). To set up an FTP server in Windows Server 2016, first you need to add Web Server Role (IIS) as a role, and then FTP Server as a role service (see Figure 5.6):
