When a second daughter is born to Chu Ju’s family, they decide that the baby must be sent away. Chinese law dictates that a family may have only two children, and tradition dictates that one of them must be a boy. Chu Ju knows that she could never allow her baby sister to go, so she sets out in the middle of the night on a remarkable journey to find a home of her own.
