Molly Hyde English has been a longtime passionate purveyor and proponent of curated and vintage textiles, art and interior items and their eclectic mix within modern and contemporary settings. A graduate of California State University at Long Beach, Molly began her career with the airlines as a sales executive with three major carriers in several principal U.S. cities and thereafter as a marketing director with a large California state agency, major land transport company and regional entertainment company. It was while living in the San Francisco Bay Area that she moved from corporate sales and marketing into retail, establishing Camps and Cottages. She moved her store to the greater Los Angeles area in the early 2000s, where it has continued to draw retail customers and designer clients from throughout the region as well as loyal followers throughout the U.S. who follow her on Instagram and her website www.camps-cottages.com. She shared her passion and work mixing vintage with contemporary in her first book, Camps and Cottages (Gibbs Smith), in 2000 and later with Vintage Cottages (Gibbs Smith) in 2007. With Contemporary Cottages, Molly has set forth a photographic chronicle with owner and designer thoughts underlying the transformation of “cottage” from a traditional “vintage” space to one marked by lightness, energy and a fast-paced twenty-first-century sensibility. The trilogy provides readers with a thoughtful appreciation of the continuing role that cottages play on the American scene.

The Photographer

Ryan Garvin is an interior design photographer based in Southern California. He began his photography career nearly a decade ago, and honed his aesthetic in the process of putting in his “10,000 hours.” He pays special attention to horizontal and vertical lines with his work, and he seeks out the interesting and thoughtful details at each shoot. Relying almost entirely on natural light, he prides himself on the photographic style he has come to be known for. His work can be seen in notable print and web publications, ranging from Elle Decor to Traditional Home, and most often—your Integra feed. Prior to photography, he was working in ministry and had initially thought a career in children’s ministry would be his path.
