Materials
• Premier Yarns Deborah Norville Everyday Soft medium (worsted) weight anti-pilling acrylic yarn (solids: 4 oz/203 yds/113g per skein; multis: 3½ oz/180 yds/100g per skein):
12 skeins #200-34 turquoise tone
8 skeins #100-02 cream
• Size G/6/4mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
4 dc = 1 inch; 3 sc and 2 dc rows = 2 inches
Chain-3 at beginning of row counts as first double crochet unless otherwise stated.
Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.
Single crochet join (sc join): Place slip knot on hook, insert hook in indicated st, yo, pull up lp, yo, draw through both lps on hook.
Afghan
Row 1: With cream, ch 178, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across, turn. (177 sc)
Row 2: Working in back lps (see Stitch Guide), ch 3 (see Pattern Notes), dc in next st, [ch 5, sk next 5 sts, dc in each of next 2 sts] across, turn, pull up long lp to be picked up later. (52 dc, 25 ch-5 sps)
Row 3: Working behind last row, in back lps of last sc row, join (see Pattern Notes) turquoise in first st, ch 3, dc in each st across, do not turn, pull up long lp to be picked up later. (177 dc)
Row 4: Working through both thicknesses of last 2 rows, matching sts, pick up cream, ch 1, sc in each st and in each ch across, turn. (177 sc)
Row 5: Rep row 2, do not turn.
Row 6: Working behind last row, in front lps of last sc row, pick up turquoise, ch 3, dc in each st across, turn, pull up long lp to be picked up later.
Row 7: Working through both thicknesses of last 2 rows, matching sts, pull up cream, ch 1, sc in each st and in each ch across, turn.
Rows 8–217: [Rep rows 2–7 consecutively] 6 times. At end of last row, fasten off turquoise.
Row 218: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Fasten off.
Row 219: With WS facing, working in starting ch on opposite side of row 1, sc join (see Special Stitch) cream in first ch, sc in each ch across. Fasten off.
For each Fringe, cut 2 pieces cream each 12 inches long. With both strands held tog, fold in half, insert hook in st, draw fold through st, draw all loose ends through fold, tighten. Trim ends.
Fringe in each st across short ends of Afghan.
