Lorna Poplak is a writer, editor, and researcher drawn to the people and stories behind historical facts. Her background is in law, literature, information technology, and technical communications. Lorna’s written work includes children’s literature, travel pieces, medical and scientific articles, blog posts, and a radio play. Other professional activities have included editing, fact checking, and proofreading works of fiction, non-fiction, and graphic literature. Lorna has lived in Toronto since emigrating to Canada from her native South Africa in 1989. She has served on the council of the Society for Technical Communication Toronto and on the board of the Canadian Society of Children’s Authors, Illustrators and Performers. Lorna is a member of Crime Writers of Canada and Sisters in Crime. Her debut non-fiction book, Drop Dead: A Horrible History of Hanging in Canada, was published by Dundurn in July 2017.
