ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Mary Wickizer Burgess was born in Southern California, the daughter of an attorney and justice of the peace. She spent her early life in the San Bernardino Mountains, where she rode her horse in the foothills and explored the back byways. Later she settled with her parents on a working ranch near San Timeteo Canyon.

After obtaining degrees in history and English literature at California State University, she married author and editer Robert Reginald (1948-2013) in 1976. With him, she helped establish Borgo Press and spent the next thirty years in the publishing field, writing, editing and assisting Reginald in all aspects of their business.

She lives in the home her grandfather built in 1923 with her two rescue dogs, Fredo and Katy.
