Interview Afterword
So here we have a lovely interview touching on a number of major RAW-memes going far beyond the contents of this book and ranging from The Illuminati and conspiracy theory to westward migration, Jumping Jesus, the Yankee Cowboy war, SMI2 LE and so on. We had concerns that many of these topics would be informationally redundant to the more seasoned RAW reader most likely to dive into a re-release of Coincidance . And yet, the interview contains a great deal of wonderful and unique nuggets while providing a nice intro to the Wilson cannon of ideas and the backdrop during the creation of Coincidance , but what really sold me on publishing the full interview was the applicability of many of the topics to current times.
Right wing paranoia of the Illuminati continues on in deep state, shadow government conspiracy theories. Nationalism has reemerged as a potent political force that has significantly disrupted global power brokering in a relatively short amount of time. Meanwhile we see a dramatic recent rise of cryptocurrency and perhaps more importantly the decentralized intelligence of the underlying technology, blockchain.
Unfortunately SMI2 LE, particularly space migration and life extension, hasn’t progressed nearly as quickly as hoped, but we have Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk injecting new life into space migration while other equally brilliant, wealthy, and successful cyber-businesscritters such as Peter Thiel, Larry Page, and Sergey Brin use their wealth and influence to further research and development on life extension. At the same time, folks such as emerging scientist and health advocate Rhonda Patrick promote scientifically supported methods to extend life today, while renegade biomedical gerontologist Aubrey de Grey continues to explore the promise of immortality someday soon.
During the time of the writing of this book, Prozac emerged onto the scene showing great promise in the ongoing prospect of psycho-pharmacology, but the pharmacological side of mental health has gained little ground in the last thirty years and does not seem to address the roots of the issue. However, we have seen tremendous advances in neuro-scientific and psycho-biologic research with the discovery of epigenetics and the further refinement of human attachment theory, both of which continue to advance psychology deeper into the realm of science. Meanwhile, nootropic “smart” drugs have become a hot area for exploration, psychedelic psycho-therapeutic research has slowly reemerged, and psychedelic micro-dosing has become the rage with the creatively oriented, entrepreneurial minded Silicon Valley workaholic crowd. Additionally, we see biofeedback’s successor, neurofeedback allowing us to target and tune specific brain waves at increasingly more specific locations across the brain which not only non-invasively and permanently treats many mental health concerns such as ADHD, but can also be used to fine tune a healthy brain in weeks in ways in which only a well-seasoned meditation practitioner could do as a result of years of practice.
So while global politics seems no closer to a cooperative, decentralized solution, one can hope that the current disturbance of homeostasis in global power could be the chaotic disruptor necessary for reorganization into a higher order equilibrium more suited to our current predicament. And while many other of Wilson’s passions haven’t materialized as quickly as hoped, and while our current political situation may seem bleak, progress marches on, and Wilson’s ideas continue to hold relevance.
Of all of Wilson’s ideas, Maybe Logic may be the most important and the most relevant to the ever polarizing world in which we live today. Discussed here as guerrilla ontology and compared to de Bono’s lateral thinking and Korzybski’s non-Aristotelian logic, Wilson later named his keynote philosophy “Maybe Logic,” and in the age of reality TV, social media, fake #fakenews, real fake news, twitter bots, and information-warfare in general, Maybe Logic seems more vital than ever as the lines between art and reality continue to blur.
