The production of a book is no small feat. To all my friends and dear family who both supported me and have tolerated me throughout the production process, thank you. I appreciate your love and support.
A big shout out goes to my team at Timber Press whose enthusiasm for the project and helpfulness in curating a final product has been foundational in getting this book to market. As part of my extended production team, I cannot fail to mention the gratitude I have for Holly Bechiri and Mike Krebill. Holly has now helped me survive the production of two books, and she continues to cheer me on as I embark upon writing a third. Holly never holds back her comments, and I believe the end product is always better for it. And Mike’s years of wild foods experience and many hours dedicated to the review of this book have also helped me a great deal. Mike also kept me amused by including his own foraging stories in the margins of my revisions. For his humor and knowledge, I am grateful. I am also glad for the growing friendships with fellow foragers across the country including (but of course not limited to) Leda Meredith, Hank Shaw, Butter Wilde, and Sam Thayer.
Above all, I must thank my Dad for teaching me to listen to the earth, to watch the wind, soil, sun, and clouds and learn from them. He was the first naturalist in my life and to him this book is dedicated.
