1. In a small bowl, mix milk with flaxseeds and set aside.
2. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
3. Stir oil into milk mixture. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients in the large bowl and mix thoroughly.
4. Cook according to the manufacturer’s directions for your waffle maker.
Creamy Maple Sauce
In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine all ingredients, stirring until very smooth and bubbling about 5 minutes. If mixture becomes too thick, add more milk a tablespoon at a time. Serve immediately on waffles.
