1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9" × 5" loaf pan.
2. In a large bowl, mix together sugar, oil, flaxseeds, applesauce, banana, and vanilla.
3. In a medium bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Add to the banana mixture and stir until just combined; do not overmix. Fold in chopped chocolate.
4. Pour into prepared loaf pan.
5. Bake 50–60 minutes. Cool 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Cool completely before slicing.
