GIFT OF GOVERNMENTS AND ADMINISTRATIONS
But be sure that everything is done properly and in order.
—1 CORINTHIANS 14:40 NLT
One of the prophetic ways that God speaks will be through those who are gifted in the area of administration. With any gift we have to understand that the Lord will use and equip someone who has His heart. God needs people who are able to hear His voice and by faith obey. There is a difference between someone with the gift of leadership, organization, and ruling than someone with the gift of administration or government. The ones with the gift of leadership will have those with the gift of administration working alongside to help bring organization and systematic flow.
God will speak to people with the gift of government to come alongside a leader in the church or Body of Christ to carry the heavy load. Depending on the size of a person’s ministry or church they will need more than one individual who possess the gift of administration. This is a vital and most needed gift in the church today. If you are a leader or lead in some capacity you must hear the voice of God and be led in those you call to work with you. Everyone is not gifted in the area of administration or government. God will send those who are gifted and qualified to get the task done with less supervision.
Are you one who can handle multiple tasks and fulfill them effectively? Are you a team player but also doesn’t require a lot of hand-holding? Do you have an ability to coordinate, manage, delegate responsibilities, and carry them out proficiently? Are you one who is creative in coming up with instant solutions and cannot handle disorder, confusion, and chaos? Then you may be one gifted with the gift of administration.
The spiritual gift of administration may not be one you thought you would have as a teen, but you’d probably recognize it more if we called it the spiritual gift of organization. This person will manage projects and is very efficient in what they do. People with this gift help save the church time and money by being able to see how things can be done better.
People with this gift are able to really see the details clearly. They are good problem solvers, and they keep their eyes on achieving a specific goal and are not distracted. They have an ability to organize information, money, individuals, projects, and more with little oversight. People with the spiritual gift of administration have a tendency to get so involved in how things should be done they forget about the people who are doing things. This insensitivity can lead to bullying or becoming closed-minded.
Also, individuals with this type of gift of government/administration can sometimes take on way too many projects at one time because their heart is to carry the load. The Lord might get pushed out of the picture because they are focused on the workload and forget the grace needed to do the job. With any gift we have to hear God so that we are not consumed, distracted, and forget that it is God who gifted us and not we ourselves. It’s important for people with this gift to pray, fast, study the Word of God, and receive constant encouragement from their leaders.
People with the gift of administration tend to have a do-it-all mentality and will run the risk of being drained or burned out. They need other outlets to relax, regroup, and refocus. In addition, they must hear God so that they are not so focused on the work that their own personal dreams, visions, and prophetic words are not fulfilled. There must be a balance and God will speak to those with this gift to take a vacation, rest, and receive ministry as well.
People with this gift of administration are prone to focusing on the tasks at hand rather than meeting their own spiritual needs, objectives, goals, and prophetic promises of God. In addition, leaders must hear God and be sensitive to minister to those on their team, staff, or administration. Retreats and small meetings of appreciation are needed and should be considered for those are working diligently and faithfully behind the scenes. They are the real engine that makes the dream work with the help and direction of the Holy Spirit.
