buttermilk-chive dressing

Ranch is the only dressing that I can get my picky-eater, Griffin, to touch, but I’ve had a hard time finding a bottled version that meets both my taste and health expectations. So I started playing around with a few ingredients in the kitchen. The result is this creamy, ranch-like dressing that kind of goes with everything. I’m also happy because it’s free from fillers and that preservative aftertaste, and my picky tasting panel gave it three thumbs up!

1/2 cup buttermilk

1/4 cup avocado oil mayonnaise or olive oil mayonnaise

2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice

11/2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh chives

1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Black pepper

1 Combine all the ingredients in a 1-quart glass jar with a tight-fitting lid.

2 Cover and shake vigorously to blend. Chill for 20 minutes before using or store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

3 Shake well before serving.
