This recipe may use super-simple ingredients, but it’s a big step up in flavor compared to plain steamed beans. Using a little of both butter and olive oil helps to coat the beans, giving them rich flavor that you couldn’t get by using either fat alone.
1 (12-ounce) bag trimmed fresh green beans
2 teaspoons unsalted grass-fed butter
1 teaspoon olive oil
1 garlic clove, minced
2 teaspoons lemon zest
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 Cook the green beans in the microwave for 1 minute less than directed on the package. Drain, if needed.
2 Heat the butter and oil in a large skillet over medium until the butter is melted; swirl to combine and coat the pan. Add the garlic to the pan; cook, stirring constantly, for 30 seconds. Add the cooked green beans and cook for 4 minutes or until the beans are tender. Sprinkle with the lemon zest, salt, and pepper and toss to combine.
