Many thanks to artist Andrew Walton (www.andrewwaltonartist.org.uk) for the loan of his painting displayed on the Emperor’s Silk Waxed Wall (page 142) and Susan James for her upholstery (www.hessianandtwine.com) on various projects.

Many thanks to all my stockists all over the world for their continued support but, in particular, I’d like to thank Alfie Dehez of French Origin, in Cornwall, England, for her inspiration for the Stenciled and Hand-painted Chest of Drawers (pages 6871).

When I said I was writing this book, everyone wondered how I could possibly do it, with my already tight schedule. I knew the answer: it is because I have an amazing team around me who, with their enthusiasm, warmth, sense of humor, and hard work, have made it possible.

Everyone at the warehouse where we have done much of the work is totally amazing in so many ways. Thank you! They helped me by finding furniture, lifting furniture, researching, painting, dyeing, washing, cutting, sawing, sewing, cleaning, finding flowers, making, mending, waxing, and making tea and coffee, as well as getting us lunch and a hundred other things.

Thank you to Christopher Drake, who has taken all the photographs in the book. Christopher has now worked on five books with me, and that’s because he has almost endless patience, always makes the team laugh, is willing to get his hands dirty, and, of course, has a terrific eye and great ideas too!!

And, of course, there is THE BOOK TEAM!! Thank you very much Ann Tutt, Cal Dagul, Felix Sloan, Holly Jones, Rudi Howes, and Tim Fryer for being such stalwarts, through thick and thin, for being so skilful, capable, and helpful—and you kept smiling! I am very grateful!!

Also many thanks to Amy Honour, Charlotte Freeston, Sofka Smales, Hannah Simpson, Christopher Oswald, Joanna Lloyd, Thomas Instone, James Halfhide, and Dominic Hand for their help along the way. And lastly and, in particular, to Tanya Evans, my other half and personal assistant who did all the organizing!!

And, of course, as usual, thanks to my family—David, Henry, Hugo, Lizzy, Felix, Willow, and Rudy—for huge support and understanding throughout the whole process of getting a book done. I couldn’t do it without you!
