Chapter Fifty-Eight

DAMON WAS ABOUT TO LEAVE WHEN HIS PHONE RANG. “YES?” he said impatiently.

“There’s a covert operation going down tonight at Licentia. Something about a shipment scheduled for Washington. They’ve got doctor types coming in from Quantico. A big team. I don’t know what they’re looking for, but I thought you should know.”

How had this happened? “Will you be going?”

“No, sir. I’m not on the team.”

After all his careful planning, he couldn’t believe it was falling apart at the last minute.

Damn it. The vaccine in that shipment needed to be swapped out before the FBI got there. If they tested it, the whole plan would fall apart. “When?”

“In an hour.”

He hung up. If he drove to the lab now, he’d never make it to the church on time and he’d lose his chance at the coins. But if the FBI got their hands on the tainted vaccine, that would be the end of Licentia Labs and his plan to put Hamilton in the Oval Office.

When his car came around, he got in and told the driver where to go.
