BLOODY MARY

Ariana We mentioned earlier we love the Kentucky Derby. I grew up watching it on TV every year. Mint julep is the traditional track drink, but my mom would make bloody marys. If there’s one thing I learned from Tanya Madix, it’s that you must have Old Bay Seasoning in your bloody mary. This is also a perfect hair-of-the-dog drink if you wake up with a hangover. The saltiness of the olives and tomato juice will aid in recovery, and the vodka will get you drunk again. Serves 1

Garnish: Celery, green olive, bacon, mozzarella, leftover lime wedge

Special Tool: Skewer

Glassware: Highball Glass

Spirit: Vodka

Dampen the rim of a highball glass with a lime wedge. Dip the rim into the Old Bay Seasoning. Fill the rimmed highball glass with ice. Add the vodka, Clamato juice, lime juice, lemon juice, hot sauce, and celery salt. Stir. Top with the cracked peppercorns.

To garnish, load a skewer with the celery, green olive, bacon, mozzarella, and leftover lime wedge from rimming the glass.

Note

Bloody mary garnishes are a breakfast free-for-all. You can add hard-boiled eggs, pickles, peppers, honestly whatever the f*ck you want to eat that day you can throw on a spear and chase it with your bloody mary. Invite your friends over and have a bloody mary bar set up with all your favorites.
