This doily measures about 10" (25.5 cm) in diameter at the widest point, blocked, and about 91⁄2" (24 cm) in diameter at widest point, after relaxing.

Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

18 sts and 28 rnds = 2" (5 cm) according to Purple Doily Chart, worked in rnds and relaxed after blocking.
With crochet hook, use Emily Ocker’s Circular method (see Techniques) to CO 8 sts. Divide sts evenly on 4 dpns so that there are 2 sts on each needle. Place marker and join for working in rnds, being careful not to twist sts.

With crochet hook, use the gathered crochet method (see Techniques) to BO as foll: *gather 3, chain 6; repeat from *.
Use a slip stitch to join last chain st to the first group of gathered sts.
Cut yarn, leaving a 6" (15 cm) tail. Pull tail through rem loop to secure.
Weave in loose ends but do not trim tails.
Soak in cool water for at least 30 minutes. Roll in a towel to remove excess water. Place on flat padded surface and pin out each crochet loop to finished dimensions.
Allow to air-dry thoroughly before removing pins.
Trim tails on woven-in ends.
