Acknowledgments

Many hearts and minds, invisible to you, have contributed to this book’s completion, for which I am eternally grateful.

First and foremost, my deepest gratitude to Lori Clelland, the best editor I’ve ever worked with, who took this project to heart (not just to mind), worked overtime, generously and attentively carried on many a conversation with me about its contents and process, and who, nine out of ten times, improved my writing through her meticulous (and, at times, dangerous) editing. Caryn Starr-Gates contributed invaluable editing support in the early stages. Carol Vesecky’s help with citations as well as Marjorie Otto’s copyediting were both crucial at the end.

I wish to thank my mentors and colleagues, many authors themselves, who have added to my knowledge and wisdom over the decades and who have reviewed portions of the manuscript. I am especially grateful to the climate and transformational wisdom-writers who came before me and directly influenced this work, especially Carolyn Baker, Andrew Harvey, and David Richo, who have made invaluable contributions to help us all navigate the present and coming chaos.

I am indebted to my patients and sacred circle attendees who have shared their insights and heartaches that inform and enliven the comprehensive message of Climate Cure. I am indebted to the tireless and ever-generous climate scientist Matt Johnson, PhD, for indulging me in deep conversations while I researched and assembled the climate science in the appendix. And to my savvy and patient literary agent, Dana Newman, who believed in my writing and its cause.

I extend deep bows to climate activists the world over—especially those closest to me in our local Extinction Rebellion movement—for sacrificing their leisure time to disrupt our lethal status quo. And props to climate scientists everywhere who have risked their sanity and safety to save all we love.

From the most tender and ebullient place in my heart, I thank my nieces Olivia and Journey—and all youth around the world—for the love they inspire in me, inciting extra passion to try to make a difference for our future. Lastly, and perhaps most of all, I thank you, dear readers, for receiving this labor of love and helping to complete the circle; may it buoy you as I have been lifted up on the wisdom and graces of others.
