Damien held his wife's hand as they stepped onto their driveway. It felt good to be home, though the honeymoon had been great. Serenity practically glowed, so excited to see their family and friends today to tell them the news.

And their guest behind them deserved to find out why he’d been invited.

As they walked into their house, he heard his mother and hers conversing in the front living room. He squeezed Serenity’s hand while she let out a small shriek of excitement. Both of their mothers rose in unison, and Marie, looking much healthier and happier, hugged Serenity tight. Damien held out his hand for the other guest to wait in the foyer. Marie asked her daughter, "How was Paris, my dear? Fiona and I just came back from Georgia where I saw many of my old friends."

Serenity smiled wide, and he could imagine her as a little girl about to surprise her mother. “Paris was amazing.” She waved their guest in. "Mom, I brought a surprise home for you."

She stepped aside and Damien waved for the older, white-haired but still super tall Swiss guest to come inside. He took off his hat and followed his directions.

The moment he did, her mother held her heart.

"Luca!" Marie said and tears burst from her eyes.

Luca put his suitcase down to the side and opened his arms for Marie. "Your daughter told me that you never stopped caring for me."

Marie gained a spring in her step as she entered Luca’s embrace, tracing Luca's face. "I always did. My biggest regret was not moving in with you when you asked."

He held her hand to his cheek. "I hoped when I read about your husband’s incarceration that you'd come find me."

More tears washed down her face. "I didn't think you'd want me to."

"I still love you, Marie," Luca said.

The same goofy smile Serenity sported appeared on her mother's face. "Good because I love you."

They kissed and Damien met his mother's gaze. Serenity stood forward too. Fiona glanced at the door and asked them, "Did you bring me home a guy, Damien?"

The idea of his mother with another man felt like a punch to the gut. He ignored the feeling and tried to be supportive. "Mom, are you interested in anyone?"

His mother's brown eyes sparkled as she shook her head no. The little boy inside was happy until she said, "No, but Isabelle, Marie, and I had decided to go out and find men our age and you just made this less of a group effort."

"Sorry, Mom." The concept of his mother going to a single's bar with Isabelle Morgan struck him as all sorts of wrong.

She waved him off and sat back on the couch. "No worries. I was still trying to get Pilar to join us as she's single, but she's a tougher bird to befriend."

Damien shook his head. He came home to share his happiness, not think about his mother dating. He met Serenity's gaze who looked on the verge of giggles at his discomfort. "I don't want to hear this, Mother. We have other news."

"What else?" Fiona asked and Marie and Luca joined the group, holding hands.

Serenity grinned at their moms. "I'm glad you're both here.” She touched her rounded stomach. “We're having twins."

Her mother wiped her eyes but still had that huge smile. "Amazing. Fraternal or Identical?"

"Identical,” Damien said. “The doctors confirmed it in Paris."

Fiona Dupree snapped her fingers after a small yell of excitement. "We'll celebrate. For Serenity, she gets apple cider. The rest of us get champagne."

Serenity smiled and took a seat. Damien joined her, entwining their fingers as he imagined the future. He hadn't mentioned the babies were boys, but that was their secret for now. Their growing family was their own and nothing could make him happier.
