––––––––
Just like this story, life constantly got in the way when it came to writing it. Although frustrating, it taught me that very valuable lesson us writers are always told: writing consistently pays off way more than waiting around for the right words. That’s why the dedication at the beginning was about perseverance. Like Joss and her companions, this story is for those who persevere in doing what’s right, even when the world tells them they’re wrong; and just like this author, it’s also a subtle reminder to fellow writers to persevere in telling their stories, even when life has other plans.
As I’ve stated before, I’ve been very blessed with a strong support team. Because there’s so many of you, this is my very broad way of giving all of my friends, family, coworkers (old and new), and the online book community a very grateful thank you for supporting my work. Thank you for reading my stories, for telling others about them, and for just checking in and asking how the writing is going. All of this means a lot to me.
For this story in particular, a special thank you goes to Eleanor at North Pines Editing, LLC, who was wonderful as always in helping to clean up this story when things got a little too wordy; to Gina, my forever editor and writing partner-in-crime, who always goes out of her way to make time for my stories, which I’ll always be grateful for (as well as her reactions to the scenes and brilliant suggestions); to my mom, Rhonda, for always being there for me, which is huge in itself; to Jess, who I credit as the first fan of this storyline, and who continues to be an amazing beta reader and supportive friend; and to Alex, my daily support system, whose constant pestering to “finish that book” really did help me finish it, as well as for buying paper plates so I could spend more time writing and less time cleaning dishes. Love is in the small things.
And last but never least: to you, lovely reader, for taking the time to read this story. Thank you always!
