¹¹⁴ John Norman Bryson (1896–1976) was educated at the Queen’s University in Belfast and at Merton College, Oxford. He was a lecturer at Balliol, Merton and Oriel Colleges from 1923 to 1940, and then Fellow and Tutor in English Literature at Balliol College 1940–63.
