⁴ John Clifford Valentine Behan (1881–1957) was the Dean 1914–17. He was the first Rhodes Scholar to come from the State of Victoria, Australia, and he was made a Fellow of Law at University College in 1909. Jack’s tutor was Arthur Blackburne Poynton (1876–1944). He was the Master of University College 1935–37.
