KOMBI Z1235

In Memoriam of a Faithful Chariot

Kombi Z1235 had a short but eventful life – certainly better than carting vegetables around grocery stores, builders’ materials or school kids anywhere from Bremen to Barcelona as so many of her lowly sisters did. Her other (Expedition) sister had it easier. Like many true adventurers and frontiersmen Z1235 lived to the full. She saw several continents, had several engines, she exasperated mechanics – not because of the Kombi’s fault but because of what she had to put up with from roads and weather and, above all, from people like her drivers.

Rumour has it that she met her end somewhere off London’s North Circular Road – trying to navigate back to Cambridge – home of the churlish masters – rather than her natural Valhalla of VW Wolfsburg. Her heart was a mere 1,200 ccs – it had put up with much.

She was a great lady.
