Breeze knew that C was coming to town today, but she had taken a trip out of town with Primo. She’d wanted to see C, but whenever Primo called she made herself available.
They went to Atlanta, Primo exchanged bags with a couple of men, and then they headed back to Chicago.
“That was a quick trip,” she said once they were back on the road.
“It was a business trip,” Primo informed her. “Imma take you on a real trip though,” he assured her.
Breeze didn’t care where they went, as long as she was with her man. She had been so nervous the first night she’d gone out with him. Now, being with him felt natural.
“What we doin’ when we get back?” she asked.
“Imma take you home, then I gotta make another move.”
“What? It’s almost Christmas,” she whined.
“I know. That’s why I’m takin’ you to yo’ mom’s. You spend the holiday wit’ yo’ peoples. Imma make some moves and get up wit’ you.”
Breeze didn’t like Primo’s plan, but she had to go along with it. There was no way that she was going to argue with him and piss him off. Her goal was to get him to fall in love with her so that she could gain access to his money. She decided to take a nap as he drove.
When Breeze woke up Primo was parking in front of her house.
“I’ll see you later,” she said dryly as she sat up in her seat.
“I got yo’ gift in the back,” he told her.
“What is it?” she asked as she followed him to the back of the car.
“You’ll see when you open it on Christmas mornin’.”
Breeze took two of the four boxes from him and they walked up to her front door. She gave him a hug and a kiss before she went into the house. She walked around the empty house with no idea where her mother and sister were. She called Lauren’s cell phone, but she didn’t get an answer.
Oh well, she thought. She wasn’t in any hurry to deal with Lauren anyway.
