Chapter 41

Primo parked his Range Rover in the driveway and walked up to the front door. He used his key to open the door and sat his duffle bag down. The living room was unoccupied and he wondered where everyone was.

“Honey, I’m home!”

“You so silly,” Honey said as she walked in from the kitchen. She and Primo shared an embrace and she kissed him on the cheek.

“Where the kids?” he asked.

“Sasha! Jeremy. Somebody’s here to see you.”

The two kids came running down the stairs like horses on a racetrack.

“Hey,” Primo said as they both hugged him.

“You missed my play,” Sasha told him as they all moved into the living room.

“I know baby, and I’m sorry. Yo’ mama recorded it. We can watch it tonight.”

“Okay. Can we go to the mall tomorrow?” Sasha asked.

“I just got here and you tryin’ to spend all my money already,” Primo joked.

“Jasmine and Lisa have the new Uggs and I really, really want some.”

“Okay, okay. We’ll get you two pair tomorrow.”

“Really?”

“Yeah baby.”

“Can I get a new game?” Jeremy asked.

“Sure.”

Honey smiled as she watched the interaction. Her kids were always happy whenever Primo was around.

“You hungry?” Honey asked Primo once the chattering had slowed down.

“Nah. I ate.”

Honey excused herself and went to finish cleaning up the kitchen.

Primo watched the video of Sasha’s play with her then played Madden with Jeremy.

“Ya’ll got school in the morning,” he said as he checked the time on his watch. “Time for bed.”

“Awww man. We still goin’ to the mall tomorrow?” Sasha asked.

“That’s what I said, right?”

The kids kissed Primo before taking their time to go up to their bedrooms.

“I don’t know why you spoil them like that.”

Honey sat down next to Primo on the couch.

“Why not?”

“They don’t need that stuff.”

“I wanna get it it fo’ ‘em. What about you though? How you been?”

“Same ol’, same ol’. Just hangin’ in there.”

Primo and Honey sat up talking for an hour or so before they called it a night.
