Breeze was so happy when Dior called her that she couldn’t even hide it. They talked for almost an hour before Breeze agreed to pick her friend up.
“Oh my goodness you havin’ a lil’ boy, huh?” Breeze asked as Dior joined her in her car.
“Yep. Brian and Brandon pretty happy about it.”
“What about the grandmothers?” Breeze inquired.
“They both really happy, actually.”
“I knew Donna would have yo’ back.”
“Yeah, she was pissed for a while though.”
“We knew that was comin’. How Brian doin’?”
“Okay. He tried some new electro somethin’ and I think it’s workin’, but nothin’ is guaranteed.”
“Yeah. I’m so sorry,” Breeze said for the first time.
“It ain’t yo’ fault,” Dior admitted.
“I know, but I still feel bad.”
They sat in silence for a few minutes before Dior spoke again.
“Well, thanks for covering the medical bills. I know it’s expensive, but it helps a lot.”
“It’s the least we could do,” Breeze replied.
“Okay, enough about that. When is my baby shower?” Dior asked with a smile.
“Soon. I can’t wait to go shoppin’,” Breeze squealed. “Let’s start now!” she said like she’d just had a brilliant idea.
“Okay.”
They went to the mall and bought any and everything that a little boy could wear. They had so much stuff that it could barely fit into the small car.
“I can’t believe you bought all this stuff,” Dior said, a little jealous that Breeze had so much money at her disposal.
“I feel real bad about what happened to Brian. Plus, you know how we do. What’s mine is yours.”
Dior smiled to herself as she sat back in her seat. She loved her best friend and felt bad for ever doubting Breeze’s loyalty. She knew firsthand that it was hard to pick between your best friend and your boyfriend.
