Breeze dropped Dior off and headed to meet Primo at one of his friends’ houses. She was in an expensive sports car and she drove like it. She weaved in and out of traffic like she was racing in the Daytona 500.
She probably should have been worried about the police, but being with Primo had started to make her feel invincible. He seemed to run the city of Chicago and she loved the power that he possessed. She knew that if she got pulled over he’d smooth everything over.
Breeze checked her rearview mirror as she switched lanes again and noticed a gray Range Rover. She sped up and switched back and forth between lanes as she neared her exit. She noticed that the Range Rover was getting ready to exit as well.
Normally this wouldn’t disturb her, but the way that she was speeding and switching lanes let her know that the driver of the Range had to be following her.
Breeze took the off ramp and pulled into the nearest gas station. She got out and pretended to pump her gas while waiting for the Range Rover to arrive. The driver of the Range Rover bypassed the gas station and made a left turn at the corner.
Breeze climbed back into her car and continued in the same direction as before. She kept checking her rearview mirror, but she didn’t see the Range Rover. Feeling that she might have been being paranoid she headed towards the get together as planned.
“What the fuck?” she asked out loud as she turned down the block that Primo’s friend lived on. The gray Range Rover was behind her again.
She shook her head as she wished she’d gotten the license plate number earlier. She wasn’t sure if this was the same Range that had been following her earlier or not. She felt skeptical but she wasn’t taking any chances. She drove past her destination and headed to the nearest Target.
Breeze went into the Super Target and grabbed a shopping cart. She didn’t need anything, but she grabbed stuff anyway. Since she was there she figured she’d kill two birds with one stone. She got some baby bath items and put them in her cart. She found the cutest crib sheet sets and headed for the cash register. The line was longer than she’d expected, but she used the time that she was standing still to text Dior.
What kinda car Lala got?
Dior thought about Lala not wanting anyone to know that she had been in the hood but figured Breeze was different.
Range Rover. Y?
Just wonderin’. Is it gray?
Yeah. Y?
I thought I saw her in traffic Breeze lied.
Well she said something about not telling ppl she was in the hood so it prolly wasn’t her
Prolly not. Ttyl hun
Breeze knew why Lala had told Dior to keep their meeting a secret and she was glad that she hadn’t. Lala thought she was slick, but Breeze wasn’t dumb. She paid for her items and got back into her car.
She pulled out of the parking lot and called Primo to tell him that she wouldn’t be able to make it to his friend’s little party.
“What’s goin’ on?” he asked.
“Nothin’ baby. Dior just havin’ a lil’ fight wit’ Brian so Imma stay wit’ her tonight, if that’s cool,” she told him.
“Yeah, yeah, do yo’ girl talk thing and I’ll check in wit’ you when I leave here. Imma go ahead and head out tonight since you ain’t gon’ be home,” he replied.
“Okay. I’ll talk to you later,” she said before she hung up.
Breeze checked her rearview mirror as she called Dior. The Range Rover was a few cars back, but it was still tailing her.
“Hey, what’s up?” Dior answered.
“Nothin’. What you doin’ tonight?” Breeze asked.
“Nothin’. C just got here so I guess Imma go home and watch a movie or somethin’ while they have a lil’ guys reunion.”
“Good,” Breeze said as a smile spread across her perfectly glossed lips. “Primo is out of town and I don’t wanna be alone. Maybe we could have a lil’ sleep over,” she suggested.
“Yeah,” Dior agreed.
Donna was still working nights and Dior still hated being home alone so Breeze’s timing was perfect.
“When you comin’?”
“I’m on my way now and I got a surprise for my lil’ man,” Breeze told her friend.
She was so glad her only real friend wasn’t mad at her anymore.
“Okay. Pick me up at Brian’s,” Dior said before she hung up.

Lala sighed and sat up in her seat as Breeze came out of Target. It was only seven o’clock in the evening, but she hoped Breeze would be going home soon. She increased her distance and continued to follow Breeze.
“I know this bitch didn’t come all the way out here just to go to Target,” Lala said to herself as Breeze got back onto the expressway and headed towards the city. She called Nicki to let her know that she thought that Breeze was on to her.
“Mama always said you was the sneaky one, but I guess you lost yo’ touch,” Nicki teased.
Lala followed Breeze back over to Brian’s house, where she’d been only a little over an hour ago, and gave up for the night.
