Chapter 96

Breeze rolled over in bed as she heard the garage door opening. It was still dark outside, but she knew that it had to be morning. She and Dior hadn’t gone to bed until almost four A.M. She thought about going downstairs and meeting Primo in the kitchen, but she was too tired to pull herself out of bed.

Primo took off his shoes and quietly jogged up the stairs.

“Good morning,” Breeze greeted him as he walked into their bedroom.

“Hey baby,” he replied as he sat a big duffle bag down near the closet. “What you doin’ up?” he asked as he stripped out of his clothes.

“I heard the garage door.”

“Oh.”

He walked over to her and kissed her forehead.

“You miss me?” he asked.

“Maybe.”

“Maybe? Maybe I’ll take my surprise back.”

“What surprise?” she asked eagerly as she sat up in bed.

“It’s for somebody that missed me,” he teased as he started to walk towards the bathroom.

“I did miss you,” she said as she grabbed his wrist.

“No you didn’t,” he said before he twisted his lips to one side of his mouth.

“I did,” she whined.

“We’ll see. Why don’t you cook while I take a shower?”

Breeze didn’t feel like cooking, not for any surprise, but she climbed out of bed anyway. She slipped into a pair of pajama pants and pulled a t-shirt over her head.

She listened until she was sure that Primo was in the shower before she quietly unzipped the duffle bag that he’d brought in with him.

Her eyes lit up as she looked at the neat bundles of cash. She wondered how much there was, but she didn’t have the time to count it. Breeze zipped the bag closed and nearly jumped out of her skin as she felt someone tapping on her shoulder.

“How much is that?” Dior whispered.

“I don’t know. A lot.”

“Now all we gotta do is see where he take it to.”

“Right,” Breeze said weakly.

Dior rolled her eyes at her friend. Why was Breeze having second thoughts when she wasn’t Primo’s first priority? Whenever he decided that he was done with her she’d be left broke and she would have to go right back to Lauren’s house.

“You need to think with your head,” Dior reminded her friend as they heard the shower stop running.

Breeze nodded like she agreed with Dior, but she was still skeptical about the whole thing.
