Born in Bath, I have been writing creatively for most of my life, beginning with a fanfiction novel that I started at age eleven. I continued to be passionate about writing throughout school, then going on to complete a creative writing course with the National Extension College and a CertHE in Film and Literature with the University of the West of England. I have been published in Rife magazine, where I wrote an article describing my transition back to the community after several years in psychiatric hospital. Like Heather, I was first admitted to hospital at a young age and at eighteen moved from adolescent services to an adult ward. Although When The Lonely Walk is largely fictional, some of my real life experiences have made it into the novel and informed the feelings that Heather has about her own experience. This element, I feel, gives the novel a veracity that might not be found were it to have been written from a fully fictional standpoint.
Currently, I am working in a call centre for a healthcare charity whilst finishing my degree in Health and Social Care at the University of the West of England. I live in a village within Bristol with my fiancée.
