MICHAEL GONZALEZ-WALLACE has been involved in athletic sports for over twenty years. Michael’s athletic career includes many years of playing semiprofessional basketball in Spain, where his team, Estudiantes Madrid, won the Spanish National Competition (similar to the NCAA in the United States) and where he was named the MVP of the final, in May 1993. In 1995 the Spanish basketball federation certified Michael as a strength trainer and basketball coach, providing him the opportunity to develop his teaching skills. In his more than fifteen years of involvement with basketball, Michael learned the important concepts of teamwork, leadership, muscle coordination, and physical strength training. As a student at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (a top Spanish economics school), he added the art of doing research to his skill set. In 2002 he become a personal trainer for the New York Sports Clubs group and received a certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine. He has been featured in Redbook; Prevention; O, The Oprah Magazine; and Fitness magazines and on msnbc.com and CNN. He lives in New York City.
