Shortly afterwards, Nigel is found dead, an apparent suicide. Refusing to accept the verdict, Fiona employs a detective to find out the truth.

Leo’s grandson, Michael Collins, is tracked down. He arrives in Guernsey to stake his claim to the painting, but his attraction to Fiona makes him want to help.
