Religious Divisions
The major divisions in modern religions are considered to be Baha'ism, Buddhism, Christianity, Confucianism, Hinduism, Islam (Muslim), Jainism, Judaism, Sikhism, Shintoism, and Taoism. These are further divided into twenty-four subdenominations: Christianity having the most, ten; followed by Hinduism with three; and Islam with four. There are a lot of other religions still being practiced. However, those above comprise nearly 96 percent of the world's devout.
I have not listed atheism, since I do not consider, nor do I believe the atheists consider, this to be a religion. I likewise totally reject the dictionary definition for atheism, since it makes a generalized morality judgment that suggests that godlessness is in some way evil or wicked. I've know some very moral and righteous atheists in my life who in some cases were far kinder and gentler than many who would consider themselves devout.
